Everyday . . .

Everyday for probably 50+ years Wayne has completed a daily crossword puzzle.  Only the daily crossword puzzle - not the weekend nor the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle - too much time he says.  He has consistently completed the daily crossword puzzle in under 10 minutes. Yup, time him.

He knows the most obscure two-letter words, like ai (a three-toed sloth), en and em (en is equal to half an em and approximately the average width of typeset characters),  aa (basaltic lava forming very rough jagged masses with a frothy texture), xi (Greek letter), and many more.  He is a fan of words and knows an endless supply that he gleefully uses in his crossword games.

He is frustrated when the crossword puzzler stretches the meaning of a word to the point of inaccuracy.  For example, a big deer or a deer's cousin; answer:  elk.  Harumph!

Be aware Scrabble players, Wayne has an uncanny ability to play the game almost in three dimensions, filling in all the tight spaces with just one or two letters, and scoring an obscene number of points.
Everyday, whether crossword puzzles help keep the brain active or is just a great and fun diversion, Wayne's daily ritual is enjoyable and legend to his family and friends.

Note: he says use an ink pen, not a pencil - no erasing.   Hardcore puzzling only.
